Where have the years gone?

Where have the years gone?
dreams and passion,
guilt free,
freedom to romance,
devouring life,
to love and lose,
heartbreak,
when pain was pleasure,
exploring lust,
eyes filled with aspirations,
unquenched thirst,
once every small thing mattered,
it took decades,
the lost times surfaced,
when pessimism vanished,
scar was just a world,
freedom above everything,
dating was fun,
routine of falling in and out of love,
the heart knew no defeat,
conquering the soul wasn’t vain,
never shy to take risks,
time change us as a person,
roughen the child inside,
why?
are years such an evil?
taking the self away,
hold tight to the spark,
embrace innocence,
be that person again.

Cherry blossoms and mystic season

Cherry blossoms,
seeping in the mystic season,
aura of colorful hues,
branches stripped,
of bland emotions,
smile jutted out of the bud,
fresh morning dew,
flapped wings,
birds swaying to the tune,
picking grains,
in quest of freedom,
dancing flowers,
kissing visitors on the beak,
of the wind’s chime,
untold stories,
nestled in the dense foliage,
undisturbed by human chaos.

Tricolor of emotions

https://www.askideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Happy-Independence-Day-Bird-Fly-Out-Of-Cage.jpg

Tricolor of emotions,

anthem of human identity and diversity,

pride in the heart,

a prayer to remove barriers,

make everyday the Independence Day,

freedom from caste, class and race bias,

one heart that sings the national anthem,
https://www.thereportertimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/independence-day-whatsapp-1.jpg

Jana Gana Mana of hearts striking a chord,

togetherness,

tolerance,

respect for arts and life,

music has no color,

why should the heart paint the color of hate?

free ourselves from poverty, discrimination and inequality,

respect for woman and not telling her what she should wear,

it will be true independence,

free the spirit and soul,

say no to insult against women and fellow humans,

stop caging ourselves,

let her shine in all her forms and expressions,

after all she is the form of Bharat Mata.

Happy Independence India

Flash fiction: Bailed for life by the blind law

It was the day of reckoning. The skinny and short fellow wore his best white and crisp shirt tucked inside cheap white trousers to appear in court. He was confident that the magistrate would give him bail and he will finally be a free man. He longed for his freedom to see the world, far away from his dark cell. They told him that the arrangements have been made to flee the country by sea and the boat would be waiting for him.

The magistrate walked his way inside the courtroom and everyone stood in deference to him. After all, the fate of the man longing for his freedom resides in the hands of the learned magistrate. It was the hand of God. The man in black eyed the accused and ushered him to the witness box. He asked, "So, what will you do if you are granted bail today?" The man bowed to the magistrate and confidently said, "I shall go to the lord?" The justice had an inkling what he meant by lord. He smiled and looked around. Time was running. The order must be executed. How he wished that man could be granted his last wish.

The magistrate maintained a straight face and announced, "Bail granted. We are releasing you." He removed his pen to write the order and a bullet pierced inside the heart of the accused. He has finally been granted bail for life. The sharp shooter, donning the garb of the magistrate disappeared from the courtroom as if he was some invisible force. After all, the pen did the trick and the underworld struck again in a court of law. Who says the law is not blind?!

Celebrate the woman

O! Woman!
Who stole your affection?
Robbed you of your identity!
Hunger to love, lust, provide emotional warmth and care.
Hiding under the veil,
it's time to break away.
Bear your body and soul naked.
Let them judge for it shows their character not yours.
Discard the cloak of pretense.
True freedom lies flying in quest of your human fulfillment.
Dabbling roles,
they will thrust upon.
Fulfill them at your free will and not to their whims & fancies.
Bare your heart open,
stand naked.
Slap them hard if they dare,
for you are not weak.
False pride and ego,
archaic traditions to exploit you in the name of religion.
Walk your path,
for your eyes never lie.
The fault lies in them.
In the name of religion, caste and gender roles,
they will bark forever!
Be an inspiration to the new generation.
It's your way or the highway.
Shed darkness.
Be upright for your ethics can never be traded.
Barbing insults calling you loose, they will.
Since when, the world has stopped at insults.
Explore the world for it belongs to you.
You don't need a day to celebrate your identity, sexuality and awesomeness.
Still,
Happy Women Day

Women Day: She shall not remain a mute spectator to your violence

Today, March 8 is International Women Day across the globe. I wish all women folks a very happy women Day. However, what matters is that we celebrate and respect a woman every day in life, not just on one day. Over the years, women have lead in all walks of life, political, corporates or as a human being.
What hurts is how women are assaulted every single day, victims of heinous crimes such as rape and looked down, provoked by a mindset of cultural and religious dogma. In several places in India, big cities and far-flung villages, the freedom of women are crushed as a result of male ego and ugly patriarchy that uses culture or religion as a shield. The atrocious rape of Nirbhaya still remains entrenched in our minds and despite the laws, one can say that there has been no closure. The problem is the attitude of men in society.
After Nirbhaya death, I wrote a poem on my other blog on wordpress and re-blogging it here. There was angst in the heart and two years later, I doubt whether things has changed. This poem is a tribute to thousands Nirbhaya in India and across the globe.

The birth of a girl child brings joy in the family.
A girl brings wealth and happiness in the surrounding.
As she grows up, she is stereotyped to behave in certain way to fit into society's definition of model woman.
She is chided by her elders if she chooses to wear a short skirt, 'Good girls don't attract attention.'
She is not allowed to venture late in the night for fear that vultures in the garb of humans will attack her
If she smokes or dates guys or party, she is labelled as a slut.
Yet, you bow to her in the temples, worshiping her human form.
You shower respect to her symbol yet you want to overpower her
You use sex as a tool of power, yet you forget that it is a powerful emotion and bond among equal.
You are persuaded that deep inside you cannot overpower her.
You use the cowardice tool, rape to show your weakness.
Is this what dominance means to you?
You call her weak.
How easy to forget that you are the emasculated one, an easy prey to the so called moral guardians and hypocrites who exploit a woman in the name of society, morality and religion?
You assault her, sexually harass her and confine her to the home.
You live in constant denial.
She is your mother, wife, sister or daughter.
Yet, you choose to exploit her.
Your mother is ashamed of your dastard act.
Train yourself not to rape rather than put the fear in her every moment in life that she will be assaulted.
You think she is weak?
You are weak and lack power over your mind.
How easy it is for the so called moral guardians and hypocrites able to control your thoughts and actions!
Was it her fault when she stepped out at night?
Was it her fault that she slapped you when you assaulted her?
You wanted to silence her voice?
For how long?
She will no longer be the weaker sex.
Remember the more you oppress and silence her, she will rise and kill you.
The time has come now and she will no longer remain a mute spectator to your violent way and herd mentality.
How many Priyadarshinis, Nirbhayas and Amanats you will rape and oppress?
Thousands Nirbhayas will take birth.
This is a wake up call for you to respect her as an individual.

Happy Women Day.
Let's rise and awaken as human beings.

Corruption free, tolerant India:Too much to ask on I Day?

Creative Commons License

Freedom at Midnight. Aug 15 turns as we bask on past glory, success and future challenges on our Independence Day. As Indians, we take great pride in our national flag and anthem. I do not oppose this view as I belong to the school of thought that believes that our Jnana Gana Mana is the most beautiful and emotional anthem in the world.
This I-Day should have been so special for us. We won the world Cup in an almost dramatic way, Anna Hazara led our young nation in demand what is rightfully ours: acountability. As a nation we have suffered for long at what I call the apathy of our corrupt netas. We also lost our Elvis Presley, the endearing, lovable and flamboyant Shammi Kapoor. We pressed for the Lokpal Bill and if it bears completion it shall be a great victory to our young nation. However, it looks like a distant dream as a result of the apathy of our political rulers. Are we in a state of reboot? Is the right to Information Act a case of restart our machine? Well, these questions need to be adressed urgently.
The terror attack in Mumbai has put into question our freedom and pride as Indians. As we utter Not Again in Mumbai we are compelled to question the assurance given by corrupt babus and netas? Are we really free as a nation? Do we just sit and take pride in Jnana Mana on August 15? No considering that immature decisions are being imposed upon us as we watch speechless and defenceless? Case in point:Raising the drinking age to 25?
Sorry to say India is not free as a nation. There is still the huge divide between Bharat and India where millions in rural India are still denied access to quality education. Well, more emphasis should be laid on Education if we want to catch up with China. Poor infrastructure make us prone to terror attack and water logging during monsoon. There is a feeling of inequality among different ethnnic group. We are intolerant to homosexuals, free sex and live-in religion. Secularism is a lost word.
True India is booming in terms of the economy and the youth have better jobs with attractive with pay packages and we don't need to move to foreign shores in quest of better jobs and associated perks.Yes, we are intolerant as a nation. Someone like MF Hussein was compelled to leave his own country and die a sad and tragic death. Very sad.
As a young Indian, my take is that I am proud to be Indian and will always be. But, but I wish we were more tolerant to everything and please we should break away from the shackles of morality and extreme religious views. We should feel protected and secure in India and let's erase the evils of corruption. Learn to understand each other's culture and win the war against corruption. Dream wish: We want Lokpal Bill to be turned into reality.
Happy Independence Day
Proud To Be Indian.
Once an Indian always an Indian.
